Aliester, born Edward Alexander Crowley, is one of the most influential Freemasons. “Crowley joined many esoteric groups where he was either admired and rose high in the ranks or despised and expelled. Inspired by Arthur E. Waite’s book, The Book of Black Magic and of Pacts, Crowley joined the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. This secret society held within its membership elite and highly influential members of society. There he introduced to ceremonial magic the ritualistic usage of drugs. He many times boasted for sacrificing about 100 children per year for his rituals. Here he is in magician regalia.
Sex and drugs were big parts of Crowley’s satanic system, and over his lifetime (1875-1947) he indulged every kind of sex and drug imaginable. His drug use inspired his novel, “Diary of a Drug Fiend”. Crowley also had dozens of lovers, maybe hundreds,of both sexes and all ages. He said sex was a way of contacting beings from higher spiritual planes, and he claimed to hear “voices” and see “visions” after kinky sex.
But perhaps most shocking of all Crowley’s sex acts was the night his mistress, Leah Hirsig demanded that Crowley should eat her excrement, which lay on the the consecrated plate on the alter. It’s reported Crowley cleaned his plate of poop under Hirsig’s stern gaze, then described the experience:
“My mouth burned; my throat choked; my belly retched, my blood fled whither who knows, and my skin sweated. She stood above me, hideous in contempt.”
He wrote a few notable books, one being “The Book of Law”. In the book he said he met a supernatural being which many people believe to be a “demon” or “Jinn” that told him “that Crowley has become the priest-prince of a new religion, the Age of Horus. He was to formulate a link between humanity and the “solar-spiritual force, during which the god Horus would preside for the next two thousand years over the evolution of consciousness on this planet”(not fully established as a fact). One of the main philosiphical points of the book is:
“Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law;”.
This is his depiction of “Lam”, the demon who spoke to him. Looks a lot like an alien doesn’t it?
The unicursal hexagram is the symbol most associated with the Thelema. The Thelema is his philosophy. Thelma is the Greek word for”will”.
Kenneth Grant, Crowleys’ Protege, said ”that in, the same way the Bible ruled over Western Civilization during the past two millenniums, the Thelema would describe the spirit of the next two thousand years.”Even though he was “infamous as a black magician, a satanist and drug addict and was dubbed “The Wickedest Man in the World”, Crowley was suspected of becoming a secret agent for the British intelligence. In popular culture he can be found in the most random of places. For eg. on the cover of a Beatles album:
Here’s Jay Z wearing a shirt with one of the 3 most important philosophical points of Aleister.
In Yu-gi-Oh, a famous anime for children, one of the characters (Alister) is named after him. He also bears the unicursal hexagram on his forehead. (symbol for the Thelema)
